Blissdom Canada ’12

Another great year with the ladies at Blissdom Canada. This year, my company Publisher Production Solutions was a proud sponsor of the conference, but I feel that it meant more to me personally. I love being able to see and catch up with the ladies that have been here in the previous years. Especially getting to  those who are from across Canada, not just those from Toronto, but also meeting new people each year.

I was re-inspired to write more, here in my blog, but now possibly guest blogging on other sites. Equally, I have been inspired to pick up my camera again, and not my digital one, but my film camera. I really look forward to finding film (and processing them) that are still available for the many film cameras that I still own. I hope to get back into creating portraits that I did back when I was in school at OCAD.

If you were at Blissdom Canada 2012 this year, I hope that you had a great time. If not, I hope to see you here next year at Blissdom Canada 2013!

Blissdom Canada ’10 and Blissdom ’11

I was a late registrant to Blissdom Canada’10. I had heard about Blissdom prior to it coming to Canada from a few blogger that I follow. I never thought of going to a conference for myself until I noted that a lot of the Tweeters that I follow (from Canada) were going to Blissdom Canada.

So I missed the early bird registration when it was a good price, and to make it more difficult, I had to go on a wait list (which I thought was a cruel way of saying that you’re not going to make it this year). I really didn’t think that it was for me until I got the email (and a phone call) giving me a 48-hr window to register as my name came up on the wait list.

Without hesitation, I registered (although the extra $100 really hurt). After tweeting that I was going to Blissdom, I approach a techy mum from [my daughter’s] school yard that I had been socializing since Spring of this year. I asked if she had heard of Blissdom and if she is going, and she tells me that not only is she going, she’s a speaker and she was one of the people that approached the ladies from Blissdom to bring it up to Canada.

It took a lot of juggling with babysitting, but I finally made it to almost every event. Wished that I could listen to all the sessions. But I got a lot out of the ones that I heard. There were amazing speakers. There were inspiring and encouraging ladies there. It was a great time.

After the three days, and “following” as many ladies as I could on twitter that I met, I started to “engage” as Scott Stratten said in his keynote speech. But by Monday, life was back to normal, I had to get my daughter to school, I had to play catch up with work and I’m still trying to find time to work on …. myself.

Then I think about where I came from. That I have been working hard all year on personal improvement. For the first part of the year, I had been figuring it all out. By mid-year, I had found a nutritionist, (six-wks later) a personal trainer, I de-cluttered my storage of all baby/toddler stuff for a Mom-2-Mom sale. So I’m on the road to my goal.

One2One Network is having a Blissdom ’11 Conference Giveaway, where the grand prize is an all expense paid trip. With the conference in August ’11, it would be a nice way to celebrate my first year working towards a more blissful life.

I don’t think that I’ll be able to go to any more out of town conferences in the next year without contest like this. So wish me luck.

Blissdom Canada

I was fortunate to attend Blissdom Canada October 27-29, 2010

Blissdom Canada is Canada’s first social media conference for women, by women; it’s a celebration of how, why, and in what ways women use the Internet and other virtual tools to achieve and hold on to their bliss.  Speakers and attendees will come together to teach, learn and inspire each other.

I was definitely inspired by everyone there and especially those that I was fortunate to speak with.

Although, I have been taking the time to “find my voice” when writing my blog here (which I still am), I thought of something that I can do now to my photoblog. If you didn’t know about my photoblog, it’s where I [try] to post daily photos taken from my iPhone/iPod using only iPhone/iPod apps to shoot, edit and post them. What I will be doing new, is I will provide as much info on which Apps I used, setting and filters.

How I’d like to improve my home

Here is my wish list for my home. Things for me to save up and work towards (they are in no particular order).

1. laundry room: washer/dryer in one; and finish the laundry closet to allow for hanging of clothes to dry etc.

2. kitchen: microwave drawer

3. kitchen: undercounter Fridge/Freezer (still searching the right style)

4. den: well designed Den (just can’t find the right configuration and furnishing)

5. master bedroom: wall mount [new] TV in my bedroom + connect a computer to it.

6. change all my doors (first the bedroom doors, then bathrooms, then closets)

7. bathroom: change 2nd bathroom vanity and sink

8. master bathroom: change sink in ensuite bathroom

9. kitchen: change cabinet doors in kitchen

10. kitchen: new dishwasher

11. kitchen: new sink & faucet

So, when I have $20,000 dollars lying around or when I win the lotto, I’ll be able to strike things off my list.
