Walking it off

I’ve gained a lot of weight.  Not just from having a baby (who really isn’t a baby anymore since she’ll be 6 yrs old in a couple of weeks), but from everything.  Bad lifestyle, bad food and no exercise (unless you can really count running after the [almost] 6 yr old.

Anyhow, I have decided that it is time for me to do something about it.  So I’ve started walking.  Of course this will only last as long as the weather is good, but I have to start somewhere.

I’m walking every morning, with my daughter to her school.  We’re averaging 25 mins (one way), but keep in mind that I have a daughter who drags her feet or stops to check everything out.  Plus we’re bringing along the dog, who stops to check out the birds and squirrels.

I was reading from my friend’s blog, that walking didn’t really help her lose the weight, but running did.  I’d like to give running a try, but I think that I need to lose some weight to be able to do it somewhat comfortably.  I have a ways to go (over 50lbs overweight), but I’m determined to do it.

Oh yeah, I’m also going to try to cut back on carbs. So I’ll start slow with the tip from a friend’s trainer – No carbs after 6pm.
